PISA 2006
This film provides impressions of some of the factors that policy makers and teachers associate with successful educational performance in the top performers Canada, Finland and Japan. In addition, Mexico was included because the performance of some of its schools highlights, that success is possible even under the most adverse socio-economic circumstances. Germany was chosen as a country in which PISA has ignited a broad range of reform efforts.
As a cross-sectional survey, PISA cannot show which policies or practices cause success, but it does reveal some common characteristics of students, schools and education systems that do well, which this film seeks to examine (a film of Dr. Paul Schwarz).
